On My Goals This 2009-10

Our thoughts are brought to existence through words, be it spoken or written.  Therefore, I find it incredibly important to set goals and write them down.  This post not only acts as a reminder of what there is to achieve but also, following the logic from the above, my goals might actually come true!

So here goes:

1. Graduate from UK summa cum laude (hopefully #1)
2. Create a financial plan that will allow me to pay off debts within 10 years of graduating college (2022).
3. By 2017, apply to the best graduate schools that are possibly out there.
4. Get internships every summer that will allow me to travel.
5. Read at least 2 books a month for fun.

There will definitely be more goals to come...

On Following What You Think Is Hopeless But Lovely

The most admirable trait found in a person is passion, one that not only consumes your thoughts and actions but also one that brings you the pleasures of overwhelming joy. Passion is fueled by the belief that all our goals constitute a sincere commitment to do our very best. By doing so, no experience is ever lacking in value. No matter what the outcome is, even if it is a hopeless failure, I am assured that a lesson has been learned and something can be approved upon.

All our energies on the current goals at hand and in preparation for tackling future goals should be spent for the sake of progress and doing the things we love. Our passion should not be restrained by the yearning of conventional rewards such as money and status. It may be comical to think, but if your life's passion is to clean floors, do it. Things like money and status will come.

This may perhaps be a pacifier for the qualms that I have on following my own dreams. In this tough economy, nothing is secure, but then again, the world needs everything. No career can ever be discarded as purely useless. From that, I believe that I can succeed in becoming anything I want to be, not for the sake of money but for my own well being and happiness. I am dead set on becoming an artist. Yes, art happens to be an unnecessary luxury that is further underscored by the constant news of the economic downturn. Regardless, I am happy to trade a few years of frugality for a lifetime of happiness.
